T4 endolysin under the control of T7 promotor

This device contain the T4 endolysin, a lysozyme from enterobacteria phage, under the control of the T7 promoter. Lysozymes (EC 3.2.1.17) are 1,4-β-N-acetylmuramidases, cleaving the glycosidic bond between the C-1 of N-acetylmuramic acid (NAM) and the C-4 of N-acetylglucosamine (NAG) in the bacterial peptidoglycan (PG). This leads to the complete lysis of the cell.

The T7 promoter is a well-known promoter that has already been characterized. As an example, the Imperial team, in 2007, characterize it for temperature sensitivity. At 37ºC the number of molecules of GFP synthetized was 3.1013 in 120 minutes (PoPS ~ 1,9.109) (https://parts.igem.org/Part:BBa_I719005).

The part characterization can be found at the Experience section.
